It is hard. We struggle with it daily. We desperately want to be more like Jesus, but shiny objects draw us in. As part of our effort to change the way we think and go all out for Him we will be joining this "Movement".
"The price is certainly high for people who don’t know Christ and who live in a world where Christians shrink back from self-denying faith and settle into self-indulging faith. While Christians choose to spend their lives fulfilling the American dream instead of giving their lives to proclaiming the kingdom of God, literally billions in need of the Gospel remain in the dark"
— David Platt
We are committed to five things for this year. Here is what they are:
1. To pray for the entire world.
2. To read through the entire Word.
3. To sacrifice your money for a specific purpose.
4. To give your time in another context.
5. To commit your life to a multiplying community.
I am going to try to blog as we do these things, about our struggles, victories and thoughts. I am so excited to see how God uses our family this year. We feel big things on the horizon. BIG things.

AMEN! The sacrifice may seem big at first, but the reward will be even bigger....not monetary, but spiritual as you live a life sold out for Christ. :) May we all live life this way. Looking forward to hearing along the way.
God Bless,
Stacy
Our pastor was just talking about this book during the New Year Eves service... I think it is a "sign" that I need to go get a copy! :) Thnaks!! Look forward to reading your journey through it...
Our pastor just mentioned this book in a sermon a month ago. I think I'm going to read it, thanks!
David Platt is the pastor of my sister's church and it has been amazing to see the change in my sisters life. I read half of the book and then we moved and now I can't find it! Looking forward to following your journey:)
That's awesome. I committed to do the same thing in October. The one about going to another place for the purpose of sharing Jesus was one I wrestled with at first, because I want to go work at the fistula hospital in Ethiopia, but I'm not in a place where I can do that yet. A wise woman from my home church told me that perhaps God has that trip for me further down the road, though He's going to begin it in me this year.
The book I read after Radical, that I'm thinking you guys will love is Richard Stearns' Hole in the Gospel. He's the USA President of World Vision, and the book is really good and a great companion to David Platt's book.
