How's Hope?

Thank you all so much for praying for sweet Hope! Look at that face! Is she not scrumptious?! I am happy to report that she is doing well. She is a pleasant baby who sleeps a lot and nurses like a champ! The boys are just absolutely loving her and our house is overflowing with sheer joy. I never thought I would be so thankful for late night feedings, our alone time in the quiet of the night is such sacred time for me. I am just loving her to pieces and honestly, not sharing her very well.

As for her blisters, we are praising God that NO new ones have developed since we were in the Hospital on Wednesday. Her left foot has only one small blister that seems to be healing nicely, her right foot on the other hand is quite painful. She has three larger blisters that ARE healing but are very raw, and at the edge of the one is where the did the biopsy Thursday so she has a little stitch there. None of this seems to bother her aside from at bandage change time, which is heart wrenching for all of us. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for bandage change time. Howard has been so amazing, though I know it is so tough for him he has really taken charge and I provide the comfort while he does the "dirty work". I am so thankful for him!

As for me, after Thursday's trip to Pittsburgh I was quite sore and it has taken me a few days to recover from that. I am doing well, and Hope and I are blessed to have the three men of the household taking care of us. We are taking it easy and just hanging out. Hope and I watched our first chick flick together the other night. I can't say she was impressed.

So, thank you for praying, your prayers are being felt. I have felt so encouraged by your prayers and messages. Thank you!

awesome news!

i cannot tell you how my heart broke when i read your entry saying she had blisters - after seeing what little Jonah goes through, i was praying it wasn't EB.

but then i prayed for healing, which medically speaking would be a miracle. and it looks like that's what God is giving us! she looks WONDERFUL!

and she's beautiful. :-)

praying for healing for both of you... i understand physical pain and hope both of yours goes away. ;-)

She is so beautiful! I am so glad to read there are no new blisters and that you are recuperating together nicely.

You continue to be in my prayers - especially for dressing changes.

BTW - I had a friend whose son was born with blisters on his hands. The doctors determined it was from sucking on them in-utero... He's now a happy, healthy 9 year old. Just a thought...

Just wondering what wound care dressing you are using? There are special products called Mepilex, mepilex lite and transfer and mepitel that are wonderful for EB blisters/wounds and promote rapid healing! I'd be happy to send you some extras we have for you to try till you know for sure if she has EB.

I am praying for you and your sweet family, she is so beautiful!

As for the blisters, my youngest gets tiny blisters between her toes and I use Lansinoh on them, it is for breastfeeding related cracks and soreness but it works amazingly well on scrapes, scratches and blisters, they heal up very fast after just one application. It is worth a try ;)

Have a great week and congrats! You have a lovely family.

BEAUTIFUL! I love her! Keep the photos coming! We are still praying for her! (& your recovery as well.) My Aaron his an adhesive allergy and breaks out/blisters at every site where the plastic medical tape touches his skin. It seems only to be tape adhesive and so it is pretty manageable. I pray that Hope has a similar "thing" and it is easily managed by keeping the plastics/adhesives away! Take Care!

That picture reminds me of when my youngest (only girl) was a newborn and I had a little hat sort of like that. I thought she looked like a tulip. Baby Hope does look like a beautiful tulip in that picture.
My middle child had similar blisters when he was an infant. I honestly thought that my husband was holding him and smoking at the same time, and burnt him. I was furious. This happened on 2 occastions. The Dr noticed it on a visit, and he said that my son was the first case he had ever seen in real life. And because if was so minor not to be concerned. I didn't even know what he was talking about because I had never hear of this skin disorder. He would get spots, they would blister and then heal. He has out grown this. Like the Dr said he would. And he never had anything more serious than a few at a time. I will pray that this is what Hope will do.
She is beautiful

She is truly lovely! I smiled when I read how you weren't doing very well in the sharing category. I think that is so okay. :-) Love that the two of you already took in a chic flick together. How dear to know there will be ever so many more. Just delighted to know there are no new blisters. That is surely a terrific (!) sign. Very happy for you, and so thankful for God's mercy to Hope and to your family. Blessings!

Praying for you little girl!
I wanted to pass this along just in case it could help speed the healing of her blisters. There is a herb(weed) that grows in most yards, called plantain. It works wonders on my skin irratations. When my little ones gets stings you can chop or tear it up and just place it on the spot, I like to put a bandaid over it and just let it sit until the next bandaid change time. I know it sounds strange but it really works. You can google plantain herb and find a lot of info on it. you can also go to morethanalive.com or bulkherbstore.com to read about it.

Oh, by the way she is just too adorable!! It makes me want another little girl!!

I saw this poem on another blog and it made me think of Isaac and Asher:

I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today.
I asked what makes a Mother
And I know I heard him say.

A Mother has a baby
This we know is true.
But God can you be a Mother
When your baby's not with you?

Yes, you can He replied
With confidence in His voice
I give many women babies
When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime
And others for a day.
And some I send to fill your womb
But there's no need to stay.

I just don't understand this, God
I want my baby here
He took a breath and cleared His throat
And then I saw a tear.

I wish I could show you
What your child is doing today.
If you could see your child smile
With other children and say

"We go to earth and learn our lessons
Of love and life and fear.
My Mommy loved me oh so much
I got to come straight here."

I feel so lucky to have a Mom
Who had so much love for me
I learned my lesson very quickly
My Mommy set me free.

I miss my Mommy oh so much
But I visit her each day.
When she goes to sleep
On her pillow's where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
And whisper in her ear
"Mommy don't be sad today
I'm your baby and I'm here."

So you see my dear sweet one
Your children are OK
Your babies are here in My home
And this is where they'll stay.

They'll wait for you with me
Until your lesson is through
And on the day that you come home
They'll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother
It's the feeling in your heart.
It's the love you had so much of
Right from the very start.

Great to hear Hope is doing well!

I am so glad your Hope is doing well. I will pray that she continues to thrive and that no more blisters appear. We just had our 3rd child; a little girl we named Hope! She will be 7 weeks old Thursday. Needless to say, I love your daughter's name and I know it contains much meaning for your family.
