Check Out This Cake!

We decided to cut corners and try to make our own cake for Ben's party today...I baked cupcakes and frosted over them and my AMAZING husband did the decorating! We
are quite pleased with the result...at less than half of what we would have paid to have one made! Just another entry for the list of reasons why I love Howard, he is a cake decorator too!!

wow, i have not been here in a long time! i've just been catching up. first things first, that cake is amazing, Howard is definitely a keeper. and of course, happy birthday ben!!

i had not seen the pictures from the cemetary. thank you for be willing to share those with us. what a precious time you all had. absolutely loved the picture of looking up toward heaven to speak instead of down to the ground. another example of needing to have child-like faith.

you continue to inspire,
sheryl

I used to get my son birthday cakes from the store, but then one year my SIL guilted me into making one because she had done one for my nephew. That first cake turned into a birthday tradition for all three of my kids. They plan for weeks what they want on their cake and I do my best to create it. Familyfun.com has lots of cake ideas. I use their ideas to get started, and then let the kids help decorate. I hope you too turn this into a family tradition. The kids don't really care what the cake looks like in the end - it's the fun of creating somthing together in honor of their special day that they love.

That cake is so cute, and not only did you save money, but you made a very special memory for little Ben. I always make my own cakes. I love doing it because it is like a labor of love. Good job.

Way to go Howard!!!
Have you guys ever seen Ace of Cakes on the Food Network? I love that show! Howard could be the neck Duff Goldman... minus the tattoos and goatee and biker boots. Although having never actually met you, maybe you do have a few of those :)
I made a cake like that in April for our son's b day. It was in the shape of the Super Man logo. I like the cloud shape better!

I came across your web-site by following a link form Emily's. I can NOT believe how similar your story is to my sister's, Penny. Here is her link. Unforutnately you two might share a tight bond, as she has lost two beautiful boys, sharing their time with Asher and Isaac I'm sure :), too. Your posts and memory places seems so familiar when I read your bosts. Thank you for sharing your heart. I wish I could take away all of your pain, and for all mother's who have suffered the loss of a child. Blessings, Peggy Cardenas
